Caramoor’s oldest mentoring program was founded in 1992 by former Caramoor Artistic Advisor Sir André Previn. Named in honor of Judy Evnin, Caramoor’s Chairman Emerita, this program has identified some of the finest instrumentalists of the next generation and helped them cross the threshold from their student years into the early stages of a professional career. Each year, the program’s Artistic Director Marcy Rosen selects eight young musicians to come to Caramoor in the fall for a week-long chamber music residency. The Rising Stars spend the week rehearsing with guest Distinguished Artist mentors, culminating in two public performances in the Music Room.
